Plastic Flooring: Tests and Standards

Testing of Plastic Floor Coverings

To evaluate plastic surfaces, we conduct extensive laboratory and field tests in accordance with the relevant national and European standards, as well as the RAL quality and testing specifications.

Depending on the flooring system and the specific requirements, our testing services include, among other things:

  • Force decay in accordance with DIN EN 14808
  • Vertical deformation according to DIN EN 14809
  • Pavement thickness according to DIN EN 1969
  • Tensile strength and elongation at break per DIN EN 12230
  • Seam strength in accordance with DIN EN 12228
  • Ball rebound according to DIN EN 12235
  • Water infiltration and water permeability according to DIN EN 12616
  • Slip and skid resistance in accordance with the relevant test methods
  • Wear and abrasion resistance according to the relevant test methods
  • Aging and durability
  • Shore hardness
  • Flatness and slope in accordance with DIN 18035-6
  • Coating thicknesses and system composition in accordance with DIN 18035-6
  • Testing of base and asphalt layers in accordance with DIN 18035-6
  • Material and Product Identification
  • Environmental impact assessments
  • Suitability tests in accordance with DIN EN 14877 and DIN 18035-6
  • Inspection and acceptance tests in accordance with DIN 18035-6 and DIN EN 14877
  • Initial and routine inspections as part of RAL quality assurance in accordance with RAL-GZ 943

Applicable Standards and Regulations

Our testing of synthetic surfaces is based in particular on DIN 18035-6 – Sports Fields – Part 6: Synthetic Surfaces, DIN EN 14877 – Synthetic Surfaces for Outdoor Sports Facilities, the associated European test methods, and the RAL quality and testing specifications RAL-GZ 943.

By combining various testing methods, we can comprehensively evaluate individual materials and surfacing systems as well as the fully installed synthetic surface.

Fall Protection Testing

We also offer testing for fall protection surfaces both in the laboratory and directly on-site.

These include, in particular:

  • Determination of impact absorption according to DIN EN 1177
  • Determination of the HIC value in accordance with DIN EN 1177
  • Determination of the critical fall height in accordance with DIN EN 1177
  • Laboratory testing of fall protection tiles and fall protection systems
  • Testing of installed fall protection surfaces directly on playgrounds
